Top Model: Pedro, Babies, and An Anticlimactic Exit
We haven't laughed this hard at an episode of Top Model since... last week, when Dionne christened herself Wholahay and Jael and Natasha took a dip in the pool.
A series of bizarre acting challenges pitted the girls against Pedro of Napoleon Dynamite (Efren Ramirez for those not in the know). Jael ruled (literally) as a queen -- something about wearing that regal headwear made her actually enunciate! Whitney tried to be sexy, Dionne attempted to be Southern, and Natasha cackled as a witch, making us long for the days of her attempts to rap.
Then the girls took on roles like melodramatic model and bubbly model in the acting challenge. Renee won and promptly shocked everyone (including Dionne) by choosing Dionne to receive the prize, too. At first the prize seemed totally lame (T-shirts? Really? or as Dionne would say, "What the HEY-ELL!?"), but then we found out the real prize: a visit from their families. The softer side of Renee emerged when she embraced her doll-faced little boy and hubby. Meanwhile, Dionne ranted about her baby's hair. Way to prioritize, Dionne! We were too busy laughing to be critical.
Because seriously, this episode was all Dionne, all the time. It was like she'd been hired to narrate. What do you think of Dionne -- hilarious or obnoxious? Did we even see Jaslene? Jas seems to be victim of the "started strong and is on the way out" edit. Meanwhile, Brittany continues to take fabulous photos with nary a criticism from the judges. It didn't hurt that she FINALLY got to take that weave out.
Same thing for Jael. No one would ever accuse her of being eloquent or cookie-cutter -- but her quirkiness used to work in her favor. Not anymore. The judges stared at her blankly when at panel, she rambled on in a description that went nowhere. Then she landed in the bottom two with Whitney, and was only saved when she promised Tyra she'd work on her speaking. Ouch. But can you really imagine her doing those My Life as a CoverGirl commercials with that voice? Mumbling doesn't become a CoverGirl...
On to the photo shoot! How great was it to see those past season models? Joanie and Kim looked especially gorgeous. In that dentist shot, Joanie really did steal the show, but poor Renee didn't have much to work with. How many permutations of frightened patient are there? Dionne's reaction when she found out she'd be in a lesbian-themed shoot was priceless: "I don't even kiss my BOYFRIEND!" We loved the return of the twins from Cycle 7!
At panel, Tyra sported yet another wrap from her rapidly accumulating collection (there's been a new one each week at panel this season). Between Ty's headwraps and Miss Jay's ruffles, we're not sure where the panel thinks they have any right to critique minor outfit mishaps like Dionne's baggy top.
And then Whitney went home -- not a big surprise after several weeks of meh photos. So we're down to the final six. Next week: heated interviews and... overseas!

i luv the show Renee and Natasha are my favorite i think when they do commercials jael is going to get out cause she talks like she is on drugs

i like jaslene and brittany the best. renee is ok too. i loved seeing the past cycle contestants. especially joanie, she definetly should have won. dani couldnt even speak right and like they say about jael, you cant be a covergirl when you cant speak properly. jael bothers me. shes almost TOO happy.

I think Natasha is simply the best, I like Brit too, Jaseline is way too skinny, Rene looks like a man after being transformed to a woman.

It is a good thing for a kid to become what they always dream.Like when my life took flight I never stop dreaming and I think that the show is a great learning expreance.

I liked Whitney and I wished she was still on. I hope Dionne wins because I like her style.

The show is great! I myself am trying out for ANTM and hopefully will win.
Unfortunately the show is getting more and more predictable. I bet you anything the girl that was raised by drag queens will go, and then it will be Jasel, followed by the back girl that curses too much (what kind of company would want to have a spokes model that can’t stop cursing). In my opinion the top three will be Natasha, Brittney and Rene. I think Brit and Rene have higher chances of winning since they can speak clearly and take good photos. But I would want to see Natasha win.

Tyra's right Whitney has been given too many chances it was her time to go but I kinda liked her but she just couldn't take good pictures.Dionne talks too much about people and that is really annoying.

I cant believe you kicked Whitney off! I wanted her to win... shes my role model. She teaches other girls that they dont have to be skiny to be a model.

I really like the show ,and I really enjoy watching it.It's good expierience since I want to be a model when I grow up.I look up to these models they are my role models. Especially Jasleen.

what is UP with tyra and head wraps!? seriously!? i think it quite strange... haha... but i loved seeing past model contestants! that was great! natasha has definitely grown on me and i think it was great that she was able to go from very sad and down RIGHT before the shoot to taking amazing pictures with bacteria all over her face! i'm kinda sad to see whittney go tho cuz i DID like her. i'm waiting for the day when jaslene's and/or renee are both in the bottom two. i want renee to go and to see jaslene's reaction but i want her to stay. i like her. ok... can't wait for next week! :D
