CW Nominated for Publicity Awards; Supernatural Fans Take Matters into Own Hands

We couldn't help but utter a bitter, resentful little laugh when we stumbled across this news item: The CW has been nominated for two ICG Publicists Awards, which honor excellence in publicity and promotion for motion pictures and television programs. The campaigns for Gossip Girl and Aliens in America are up for the TV publicity award.

We can't argue with the nominations: stories, billboards and posters for Gossip Girl and Aliens in America were everywhere, and the shows got plenty of (well deserved) buzz. But why not spread a little of that publicity love to some of the other shows? Supernatural and The Game come to mind immediately. Heck, Supernatural 's fans do so much more to promote the show than the network ever did, and it's getting kind of old. Step up, CW!

Speaking of Supernatural 's fans… We came across this petition calling for the network to air repeats of Supernatural instead of yanking it from the schedule once the new episodes are through. How many shows have fans beseeching a network -- any network -- to air reruns? That's dedication!

We'd love to hear about other Supernatural petitions and campaigns. Let us know about them in the comments!

It's even worse over here in Europe were the networks do bugger all (ITV in the UK and Pro7 in Germany), but you'd think since it cost an awful lot to buy a show, they would be interested in marketing it more. Most of my friends don't even know this show exists or are missing showing times as they aren't announced. If you don't know it's on or have to set your digibox it's missed easily. Madness!

Sometimes it makes me wonder if CW aren't promoting the show themselves because the know they still make money on it while the fans are doing all the legwork for them.

I am so dissapointed with the CW. The only reason I started to watch Supernatural was that there was nothing on during rerun season..I flip to SPN and was blown away!!! I swear the onlreason I didn;t know about it before that the totally horrible promotion the show gets. The show can't get new fans like me if it isn't even on the air!!!!!!

ps. I only started watch after the 2nd season...and have already turned by two sisters and best friend into addicts...they went out and bought the dvds just like me so we could catch up on the show

The CW is so stupid...this is the reason the network is going to go bankrupt

Supernatural fans will continue to do their best in promoting and supporting the show.

Fandom Rocks is coming to the end of our second campaign, and we are happy to report we have reached our goal. Between now and the end of February, we are hoping to blow our goal out of the water. We are so very excited to share the good news with our charities.

The latest episodes have kicked butt - I am so thrilled to have the Winchesters back on my TV. I hope the CW knows we are all out here - show Supernatural some love, CW!

I used to be a CSI fan until one day last summer when CSI was not on. My teens had been bugging me to watch their favorite show Supernatural so I figured why not. We all watched the show together, and I was totally blown away. I could not believe that such a first rate show could be on such a second class network. Supernatural is top drawer all the way. It has 2 good looking and very talented actors, great writing and directing and awesome special effects. Supernatural is a great show with family values at the core but it is delivered with the perfect blend of humor along with the horror aspects of the show. Supernatural has some of the funniest scenes I have seen in a TV show. Supernatural is a fun action packed thrill ride of a show. I just cannot believe that such a gem of a show is buried on the worst spot in TV history up against CSI and Grey's.
How could the CW hide such a gem of a show and not even promote it! I couldn't figure is out then, and I sure as hell can't figure it out now. The show is the only show worth watching on the CW yet they do not even promote it. Now not only do they not promote it they are putting it on hiatus after the new episodes are aired so they can promote the incredibly lame Reaper. What is wrong with that picture? What are the execs thinking at that network? I say Big Time Jeers to the CW for removing Supernatural from the line up!!!! Supernatural has been under rated and under appreciated and totally under promoted for far too long. The CW needs to realize what a gold mine of a show they have and give it the kind of treatment it so rightly deserves. Wise up CW and put Supernatural back in the line up before your network goes down in flames do to idiotic decisions about your only show worth watching!!!!!

considering the lackluster ratings of both Gossip Girl and Aliens, i find the award humorous. The CW extensively promotes these shows and the results are beyond disappointing.

I totally agree- Gossip Girl is a great show, it is....but Supernatural has been a great show from the very beginning and it has been on longer than GG. So why, is GG all over the place, and there are tiny pictures of Superatural every 3 months in a magazine. THE CW NEEDS TO STEP UP, OR SUPERNATURAL IS GOING TO FALL DOWN! Because, let me tell you, bad publicity equals less fans equals less ratings equals BUH-BYE! Someone do something!!!

Thanks for this journal entry addressing the terrible treatment of Supernatural by the CW. I also have never actually seen ANY trailers for Supernatural on the CW, and find it absolutely amazing that a show this successful appears to be ignored by its own network. I've managed to get all my friends to start watching this show, and even in the span of a week had 5 people on Amazon buy the DVD at my suggestion. The CW has one hell of a good show here, and don't deserve an ounce of the money they're getting from it, because the fans are doing their work for them.

Okay, as for the comment that Supernatural's been sliding this past season, I don't think you're taking into account the other factors that the crew and cast had to deal with (i.e. the writer's strike) in the past two seasons there have been loads of "useless" episodes solely focusing on just creatures and mythology...

Before the writer's strike, the writers and everyone were expecting this season to go the same way, but, due to the writer's strike everything had to change, they couldn't really plan their episodes or story lines for that....

As for Sam's powers, Jared did mention that, during the last episodes of the season, they were in fact going to bring back Sam's powers at scary levels...

So yeah, I'd say you probably shouldn't judge this season's quality without taking into account the other factors and the plans that the writers had/have....

Not to be disrespectful to the fans here, but the show is sliding in quality this past season. I mean, the first 2 seasons were epic and compelling. But after “All Hell Breaks Loose” there was nothing pulling the story along. I don’t like the fact that Sam lost his powers, yet they still make reference that he is significant. They are alluding to a greater evil than Yellow Eyes, but most of the episodes ignore that storyline all together.

Does anybody believe that Dean was going to die at the end of the season? Maybe that would have made the show better, let him come back as a ghost or something. I am just saying, if the show comes back I hope that they can get their epic storyline back instead of these useless episodes that go nowhere.

I rarely see any commercial promotion for Supernatural.
I see more commercial promotion for Gossip Girl and Aliens In America and it is only their first season.
This is Supernaturals third season and it deserves some respect, recognition and especially some support from its own network!!!!
Supernatural has a very big fan base and for the past two years we have all wanted more for the show, but no one really seems to listen to what the fans want.
Maybe Supernatural will be like Buffy(no comparison,Supernatural has its own style!!) if it gets canceled from this network(hope not) it will get picked up by another network and get the respect it rightly deserves! I mean Buffy did pretty well for herself:)
I don't want to nag or complain(though I know I kinda did) I just want Supernatural to do well, because the show, its actors and the people behind it all really deserve it!!!!!

I hope the CW will take your advice to heart and start giving Supernatural more promotion. We fans are working hard to spread the word about the show, but it would be much easier to accomplish if the network and/or representatives from the show would work with us. We have the means to spread the word through the Supernatural Underground, and we have legions of fans who are passionate about the show and are willing to do what it takes to keep it. Eric Kripke called for a fan army -- we're here. Reach out to us, Show.

On another related subject, I know this has been mentioned a couple of times, but Operation: Winchester also recently completed its Phase Two project. Fans donated money to buy 24 sets of Supernatural season 1 DVD sets, which have been sent to troops overseas. More information here: http://community.livejournal.com/promote_spn/18916.html

Well, I've posted on this before I think, but I have more to say. Us fans do promote Supernatural way more than the CW, I got all my friends to watch it instead of Grey's or CSI. It has became a legend of show. Everything is well written, amazing acting, and snarks that leave everyone laughing for hours. I don't understand the recent uproar about the show, and I do hope that CW comes to their senses and not take the show off. I will be writing a strongly worded letter to the President of CW, but we all need to buckle down and show them what fans we really are.

Hi again ~

Here are some SPN fan campaigns!

"Supernatural Underground" has launched its "Back in Black" campaign, composed of writing/emailing the CW to support our show. That's in their January 11 blog here:
http://www.myspace.com/supernaturalunderground

Team Winchester's slogan is "Tell Your Friends to Tell Their Friends", and they also support the "Back in Black" email/letter campaign.
http://www.teamwinchester.com/TW_mainpage.htm

Both the above are highly organised and motivated.

Operation Winchester is devoted to shipping SPN dvd sets as part of care packages to our troops overseas:
http://opwinchester.supernaturalunderground.com/

There's also SPN_Postcards, which sent postcards to encourage the cast and crew up in Canada:
http://community.livejournal.com/spn_postcards/

And Promote_SPN here:
http://community.livejournal.com/promote_spn/

Forgive me if I'm repeating anything, but some of the groups others already mentioned have started fresh campaigns, so I wanted to be sure that got notice.

So, as you see, SPN fans are anything but complacent! :-)
Cheers ~

Erin

The only award the CW should get is for disgusting displays of favoritism.

Thank you, CW Source!

Your darn straight we're dedicated! SPN has some of the best writers, the best stories, the best FX and stunts, and definitely the best actors in the whole CW stable. We are absolutely not going down without a fight.

Hey, fellow fans - let's make sure EVERYbody who has time to post about this else where *also* takes time to email the CW: feedback@cwtv.com

Let's tell them we're still here and we are not going away! Then next year the award for publicity excellence can go to us. ;-)
Cheers ~

Erin

If it weren't for the fans, word of mouth, and the internet, Supernatural would get no promotion at all. I don't understand the network's refusal to support it and determination to meddle with it. Other than it doesn't know a good thing when it has it, nor does it care.

Thanks for this post, however, I'm loving the blog reaction to both Supernatural's treatment by the network, as well as the fan's reaction to yet another slight to our show. Sadly, the latter is something we're long accustomed to.

I have posted many of times how this network completely disrespects Supernatural.

Trust me I dont mind doing it either.

Its now so bad that CW in and of itself became a punchline. Wanna know the other? Dawn dragging down another network.

Supernatural is better than this and deserves better than this. Its sad when the fans do more for the show than its network. Its sad when we have to yell until we are blue in the face to get the show the recognition it deserves.

We do it for Jensen and Jared and the rest of the cast and crew of Supernatural. We appreciate their work even though the Powers that Be (hell that doesnt even deserve the capitalization I gave it)dont give a frack about them.

THANK YOU CW SOURCE,
for FINALLY giving us faithful supernatural fans some media attention!
It's true, Supernatural is the show that gets the absolute LEAST publicity for on the CW network. Us fans are willing to go so far to save our show that there are sites (and myspaces) that are devoted to just PROMOTING supernatural. We've got petitions going, i've heard of petitions for everything from having the CW play reruns of supernatural to having the main characters (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) be on Oprah (a little off the map, but just goes to show what lengths us fans are willing to go to!),
I've heard of campaigns to send things like packets of salt or little chevy impala cars being sent to the CW's headquarters. On the CW's official message board for supernatural there have been MULTIPLE posts from various people expressing their disbelief when they heard that supernatural was completely being yanked from the line-up.

We've even recently won the E!Online poll for the Top show of 2007, which the E!'s tv/gossip personality Kristin has promised to give Supernatural support since it did WIN the poll. (We're still waiting for her to do this, she's yet to keep her word, i'm really hoping she does.)

Bottom line, if you're a Supernatural Fan, sign petitions, write letters, make phone calls, comment relentlessly and let yourself be heard (in a mature manner of course, no one listens to a bunch of whining fans).

i luv SUPERNATURAl...do i need to say anything else...:):)

I have become so disgusted with the CW,and their treatment of supernatural. I've always been bothered by the fact they practically refuse to promote the show on a regular basis, but when they didnt promote the awards our guys got from the military i was shocked. Jensen and Jared were given awards from the military for their work in supernatural and the CW doesnt say a word? I dont get it...Supernatural is one of the most requested DVD sets for our military in Iraq, and the CW keep quiet? Does the President himself have to give them a medal of honor for the CW to make even a whisper of praise? come on...if it were my network and the Military had given one of my shows such high praise i would be shoving it in everyones face.I have yet to hear a word out of the CW for it. I really shouldnt of been surprised by Dawn's move to take supernatural off the schedule period, but i was. I mean its one of their top shows. A show that can bring in great ratings even in re-runs,and you dont want any possible new viewers to see it? I dont understand..you'd rather they see shows that really arent that good,so they what...never come back? Dawns apathy towards supernatural has always been apparent, but her personal feelings really shouldn't come before good business, and what the CW is doing is not good buisness.

Heck, Supernatural 's fans do so much more to promote the show than the network ever did, and it's getting kind of old. Step up, CW!

AMEN to that!!! And shame on The CW for ignoring the best show on their network. This show is in the toughest timeslot of the week and still manages to be one of your top scripted shows...with the RIGHT promotion, this show could put your network on the map.

As a UK fan myself, i have been following much of the struggle us fans have to get promotion for supernatural. Its a well written series with a lot to offer an audience.

I'm truly shocked the lengths that the fans have had to go to in order to promote the show they love.

Surely the television networks should take note and realise if they were to promote and listen to the fans then supernatural could be rated a lot higher than it already is!

Yeah, I completely agree! Especially being one of the fans that help promote Supernatural! Of course, even if the CW did do a good job of promoting, I'd still help out, but still - it's ridiculous! I did send a little petition to one of the CWs presidents about this issue and the re-runs, so I hope all of our campaigns and petitions get their attention! Thanks for posting this =)

i totally agree with the supernatural fans, its the same in the UK with the channel ITV.

The channel aired season 2 near the end of last year but cut it short because apparently falling viewer ratings, and now that the channel has season 3 they havent really done much to promote the show.

Also an advert that supernatural was featured in, along side gossip girl, supernatural has now been dropped from that ad.

a lot of fans in the UK have complained but it seems like nothings been done about it.

Us supernatural fans have many ideas the cw lounge sn board has so many ideas the CW should really look into it.

the networks lack of promtion for SPN is mystifying to say the least and i also find it petty..its one of its best if not best show you promote the knickers out of it not pretend its not there!!..the show, the boys, and all who work on it deserve better...

I think Supernatural has come this far mainly because of its fans and not thanks to the Cw. The promotion The CW has done for this show has moved from little to non existing and it's really getting on my nerves when shows like OTH and GG got so much promotion before they even started airing.

*cough* Anyway.

Pretty much agree with everyone on here. It's disappointing that as fans we have to work our asses off to get every new season. That should be the networks job, not ours.

Thanks for the cover on the matter, CW Source. We all love you!

LoOK,everyone misses GOSSiP GiRL!♥;!. So please do something about this rerun thing . Because, i don't know about youu but, i would like to see B+C♥;PLEASE ! BRING IT BACK. LiKE SERSOULY PPL ARE GETTiNG so tired of wating so, they are now starting to write scripts about how they want it to turn out. Two weeks is ok but noww we don't even know if it's coming back this year. IF IT IS THE SEASON FINALE THEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE DETAILED . So , like me gossip girl fans must be waiting to see the next episode. (INCLUDING CHUCK):] THERE ARE A LOT OF GOSSIP GIRL FANS SO THE WRITERS SHOULD GET MORE MONEY BECAUSE THEY DO WRITE THE SCRIPTS , AND THE SCRIPTS ARE WHAT MAKES THE SHOW. THEY DESERVE MORE MONEY.

thanks, erica

"Supernatural 's fans do so much more to promote the show than the network ever did, and it's getting kind of old"

This is totally true.

I have a blog dedicated to the show in spanish. I'm from Chile and I love the show: http://jensenfanchile.spaces.live.com/ . Yesterday I started a campaing to promove Supernatural in Chile.

I love the guys, the stories, my Winchis and all team behind this excellente show.

PS: Team Winchester rulz!

I am such a Supernatural geek -- I have a poster in my office, and the other day it served its purpose. Someone saw it and said 'OH, is Supernatural still on? We used to watch that on Tuesday nights.'
Its very frustrating that the network does so little promotion of the show. I don't understand it -- I truly don't. I don't know why the CW doesn't take this opportunity to try to get new viewers for SN -- start from season 1 -- lots of people have never seen this gem of a show. And they are really missing out.
You're right -- what other show has fans clammoring for repeats?? That ought to say something about the calibre of the show.

I'm sending postcards on a regular basis -- to Kripke, the CW, Warner Bros., CBS and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Sarah, you said it, and you have it right: Supernatural doesn't get support or promotion from its own home network. And that is a shame, because it's doing yeoman service for the network.

I posted my non-ranty, positively-themed letter on my LJ and invited anyone who wants to use it as a template for a letter of their own to have at it. Why not give Supernatural a "second chance for a first impression" by letting people who've never even been aware of it find it when they search for alternatives to reruns and reality? And why not involve the fans in its promotion by challenging them to submit ad blurbs telling people who've never watched why they should? If the CW doesn't have enough imagination to come up with a way to promote the show, let the folk who love it and understand it do the heavy lifting!

My letter is here: http://bardicvoice.livejournal.com/21209.html

Be my guest ...

I'm going to echo that "AMEN!"

But we SN fans need to act carefully and responsibly in enmassing any type of campaign. Traditionally NO show has shown great numbers on airing reruns.

All we are asking for is a presence of SN on the schedule since it appears to be the ONLY successful show targeted for removal. This way is has just as much chance of being discovered by bored TV viewers during the strike as any other CW show. And this doesn't mean putting SN reruns in Reaper's timeslot to face NEW episodes of American Idol, while all the other shows are up against repeats of other stuff. Trading one death slot for another isn't doing us any favors. It means experimenting and trying it in a timeslot where it REALLY has a chance to be discovered... in this lull, now is the time to play musical chairs to see what works. But certainly NOT complete removal... like they say: out of sight, out of mind.

Why not really be bold and run the series starting from the Pilot during this extended strike? The season 1 DVDs have already proven their ability to sell, therefore there should be no worry in cutting into that by running it from the start. Imagine.... "Supernatural: Discover the Magic and Scares All Over Again!"

In the meantime, let's save the big campaigns in case we need to fight for Season 4. The best way to make our (calm, resonable, and polite) voices heard now is via the email link for CW (feedback@CWTV.com), brief letters and/or postcards by snail mail, or calling their recorded comment line at 1-818-977-6878 and leaving a brief & polite message expressing the concern.

Heck, Supernatural 's fans do so much more to promote the show than the network ever did, and it's getting kind of old. Step up, CW!

...uh, can I get an AMEN? Please tell me that the publicity awards nom is a joke, because seriously? That's disgusting. If not for the fans of shows like Supernatural, the CW would be a floundering, sorry excuse for a network, because the shows they DO promote the hell out of...suck and haven't got the ratings. Give me a break.

The CW hasnt done much for promoting Supernatural in the past 2 seasons, while other shows get a lot of promotion, Supernatural is on one of the toughest timeslots and still manages to get a strong fanbase and not bad ratings. I really cant understand how a network instead of encouraging the effort of this show week after week and promoting it the CW just lets the show run, almost not caring of it, not offering almost any type of promotion, advertisements not even many trailers of the upcoming eps during weeks. So since the network wont support our show the fandom is doing everything in our hands to keep it up.

I'm terribly disappointed in the CW's handling of promotion for Supernatural. If I want to see a trailer for the next episode, I have to catch it on YouTube. For Supernatural, all we seem to get is a long trailer for Smallville with a short "followed by Supernatural". It reminds me of those old Bugs Bunny "movies" where Bugs got this huge fanfare, and then it read: Daffy Duck in itty bitty letters. That's it then. Supernatural is the Daffy Duck of the CW.

I don't understand the reluctance of the CW to advertise Supernatural. It is an outstanding show with a worldwide audience.

It seems the very network that this show is on, is totally oblivious to the fanbase and the fact that it is one of their most successful shows.

Those who think we should chill and just let it all come to pass don't seem to realise that sometimes you just have to get off your butt and make yourself heard. We love our show and therefore, we will do what is needed to keep Supernatural on the air.

Im part of the Supernatural Underground...The Supernatural Underground runs and maintains the largest pro-Supernatural promotional unit on the web. Through the Underground, the members hope to unite fans from all areas and regions in a common cause--to support and promote Supernatural.

http://www.supernaturalunderground.com/

check it out!

I have called the network from Italy a couple of days ago. The very sweet lady that answered me had problems understanding my name, poor dear, but I think I made my point known all the same. It's a damn shame that I have to call from Europe to ring a damn bell. Yes, we're upset that we're not getting our re-runs. No, we couldn't care less about the Reaper. Yes, we want just a tiny bit more promotion for our show! We're not asking the moon, and I'm pretty sick of journalists and people at E!online or Matt over at TVguide treating us Supernatural fans like we're a bunch of paranoid fangirls. The oh-you're-so-beneath-me attitude everyone gets when some Supernatural fan brings up the problem of the utter lack of interest the network is taking in their best product is getting frustrating very quickly, let me tell you. I am a viewer, it's thanks to many people like me if your network survives, and I'd like to know that my opinion is taken somewhat into consideration.

Also, getting shorty and rude (as many journalists and people to whom we turn for answers do) basically only proves that someone is in the wrong. If I know I'm in the right, why should I get rude? I'd merely explain the reasons why and I'm sure everyone would get it. This is called cowardice. You snap because you know that we are right, and you can only get away with it by treating us like the abovementioned fangirls hoping that the mass of who reads will eat up your story instead of our rational, well-proven doubts. Well guess what? THIS piece above just proved you wrong, ONCE AGAIN!

The lack of promotion of Supernatural bemuses me. There was no new promotional campaign for this season. You think they would've been inspired by last year's success at the Promax/BDA Promotion and Marketing Awards (given by the oprganisation who also sponsor the Making the Cut promo vid competition) where they won a number of silver and gold awards for their Supernatural promos.

HAHAHHAHA at the award.
And HELL YEAH to the fans of Supernatural. I think we should be on the payroll at The CW.

My friend and I started a website at www.supportsupernatural.com to keep fans aware of all the articles out there about the show and add some other fun stuff.

We also created a petition to get Season 4, just in case we needed it: http://www.petitiononline.com/savesn4/petition.html
I have had a few people tell me these online petitions don't mean anything but I think the 8290 signatures we have accumulated so far says A LOT!!!

"Heck, Supernatural 's fans do so much more to promote the show than the network ever did, and it's getting kind of old. Step up, CW! "

...LOL. It's pretty sad when you've got your own Blog telling you to step it up.

Perhaps the CW is happy enough with the ratings SUPERNATURAL pulls down in the murderous spot at 9 PM on Thursday nights opposite THE OFFICE, CSI and GREY'S ANATOMY. They must be, because they do so little to promote or push SUPERNATURAL, or move it to a less competitive time slot. So what that tells me is they won't cancel it for not getting better ratings, right, CW? RIGHT!

A-bloody-men, Sarah.

I've heard mention of a boycott of Reaper in retaliation, but really I don't think that will help, especially given the writer's strike and networks itching to prove to the world that scripted shows don't get ratings. Reaper suffering might tip the CW over into more reality shows, and even less support for all its scripted shows.

I think the best way to make a difference is to write thoughtful, non-ranty letters to the CW about the repeats. Failing that, there's always rock salt...

hubby & i were watching tv a couple of days ago & saw this excellent promo for the Sarah Connor Chronicles. hubby turns to me and says: Gee, that was great! Why doesn't CW do stuff like that for your show, honey? My show, of course, being Supernatural.

PS. hubby watches far more tv than me, so he'd know.

we will still continue to get mad if nothing is going to be done about supernatural! the cw should air the same amount of promotion to each show! Supernatural is the best!!!

It drives me crazy that Supernatural will die a slow painful death at least partly because nothing is done by the CW to promote it. It makes no sense, really.

I don't believe much in petitions but here are few campaigns aiming to promote and/or support Supernatural in different ways.

TEAM WINCHESTER: http://www.teamwinchester.com/

“Team Winchester (also known as "TW") is an organization dedicated to promoting Supernatural and increasing viewership via digital, print, and street campaigns. The Team is comprised of thousands of Supernatural fans who have pledged to actively promote the show in order to increase ratings and ensure safe renewal for future seasons.”

SUPERNATURAL POSTCARD CAMPAIGNS: http://community.livejournal.com/spn_postcards/profile

“The Supernatural Postcard Campaigns started in 2006 and ran two campaigns during the second season: one aimed at showing support to the cast and crew, and the other aimed at demonstrating support to the network executives. Both campaigns were coordinated from the site spn_postcards. The campaign is continuing through Season Three. The first campaign aimed at welcoming the cast and crew back to work, and the second took place after the season premier.”

In the process, we put some much-needed supplies and quality entertainment in the hands of a lot of deserving people, and help spread the word about "Supernatural" at the same time." (http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Operation:_Winchester)

Succes stories:
- “Master Sergeant Kevin Wise, a Special Forces soldier, presented the guys with a letter from General David Petraeus, commander of the Multi-National Force in Iraq, as well as honorary Special Forces coins from his unit. Supernatural is the most requested DVD among armed forces personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan! The guys were amazed and touched, and presented Wise with a shooting script, signed by the cast and crew”

And then, of course, there's the regular sending of emails and phone calls etc.

Also, a lot of people have signed up for the Sweet Charity Auction. People from all over fandom offer their services (fan fiction, videos, graphics, craft) and this time people bid on them in order to support those suffering from the WGA Strike.

Why is this not a surprise? The CW has spent it's short two years ignoring Supernatural, while extolling the greatness of Veronica Mars and now Gossip Girl. It's pretty disgraceful when the little workhorse that is Supernatural, that got better ratings than both Gossip Girl and Aliens in America, this on the bloodiest night of the week, and it gets ignored. Now the CW gets honored for ignoring its best show. Phooy to you CW and ditto to ICG Publicists Awards.

This is why Supernatural fans get mad. Why can't the CW spread the love a little with their shows? Why does the CW feel they can only run ads or promos for one or two shows?

Supernatural is the CW's highest rated drama at 8/9. And it's in the toughest timeslot on TV. It's doing this without any promotion from the network.

Image what would happen if the network actually tried to combine efforts with the fans? Supernatural could turn into the hit it deserves to be and the one the network is working so hard to find.
