Gossip Girl Season Finale Recap

Dan confessing he hooked up with Georgina

As far as season finales go, we were a little bit disappointed in last night's episode of Gossip Girl. What started off as some really juicy story lines that had us on the edge of our seats, ended in characters reaching a whole new level of self-absorbed idiocy. This isn't to say that we hated this episode; we will certainly miss seeing the Upper East Siders until the show comes back. Let's recap, shall we?

Rufus and Lily wake up in bed together suddenly it hits her that she's getting married today. Oopsie! Dan (oh stupid Dan) wakes up with Georgina in his apartment and Serena arrives in time to greet them. Somehow at this point Dan is still calling Georgina Sarah, and finally Serena grows some *cough* balls, and calls Georgina out for the psycho bitch she really is. Too little, too late S.

Back on the Lily, Rufus and Bart front, it appears as though Bart is more perceptive than we may have originally thought. Bringing Lily to the first building he ever purchased and asking her to let go of the past was quite the astute move. Lily, of course, says she will be able to let go of the past (too bad it has now been brought to the present). Meanwhile, for Rufus it seems like back to the future. First Lily's mother told her to stay away from him, now he finds that Lily's daughter is the reason she couldn't leave with him that weekend they were supposed to rekindle things. Poor Rufus. Write us a song about it while you're on the road opening up for the Breeders.

It has to be said that Blair is brilliant. Lucky for Dan, he had the smarts to call her and get Georgie caught in a trap of her own lies. It might be easy to continue the facade with your peers, but when it comes to Mommy and Daddy Sparks there's nowhere to run. Looks like boot camp will have one more girl to reform. The icing on the cake? Blair, "Haven't you heard? I'm the crazy bitch around here." Ooooh SNAP! She told you Georgina Sparks!

Still, Dan and Serena aren't in the clear. For some reason he finds it appropriate to go to Lily's wedding and confess that he may as well have slept with Georgina eventhough he didn't. Great way to brighten up the occassion! Oh but wait, Rufus comes and tells Lily he'll call off the wedding if she wants him to. Humphrey men really have impeccable timing.

Leave it to Blair and Chuck (Waldass, Bluck, Chair) to make things interesting. Chuck finally confesses that he was (and still is) in love with Blair to Nate. This is made abundantly clear when he gives his best man speech and stares adoringly at Blair as he talks about love and second chances. Speaking of those two, how hot did they look! Yowza! It's too bad Chuck seems to be going back to his old ways when he leaves Blair at the heliopad and starts to get friendly with the interior decorator. A romantic getaway with Blair to Tuscany seemed like a great idea to us, although it is slightly more boring than the spice Blair and Chuck usually bring to a storyline. We love them together, but part of their magic is the way they fight with each other. Lucky for us, it seems like they'll probably be headed that way next season. Was it just us or did it seem like maybe Bart Bass was purposely making Chuck rethink the whole commitment thing? His "growing up" speech was a little too long for us to believe he was being fully benevolent.

And so the show ends a week later with the Rubix cube of relationships being scrambled yet again. Blair finally makes it onto the helicopter with a greasy looking young man; Chuck is going after the interior decorator; Jenny got a Parsons internship with Blair's mom (that should be interesting); Serena and Nate are consoling each other in the Hamptons; Rufus is on the road with his band; Dan and Vanessa are most likely rekindling whatever puppy love it was they had in the past. We're sure this summer will be full of surprises for all of the characters. Until then, you know you love us.

I really want chuck and blair to get together properly now i hope it happens. If serena and dan dont get back together then gossip girl wont be that good anymore... i lurv chuck hes my fav character- he mite act like a baddie but deep inside hes lovely
Jennys ok too but her need for popularity is really gettin on my nerves. nate is so fit but i dont want him to get wit vannessa. finally rufus and lily are good together better than bart and lily but if will be sik cos of dan and serena byr for now xoxo gossip girl lover

All I really care about is that Chuck and Blair end up together, and I'm sure they will. They are just too perfect for each other not to :) I think it was a little stupid, though...I mean the finale, not CB. haha. It seemed like they wanted to leave everyone on as big of a cliffhanger as possibly, so they scrambled all the relationships so you don't know who's together and who's not. That was weird, but I'm pretty sure they'll clear that up in season 2. I have my doubts about dan and serena getting back together, although i love them, but Blair and Chuck are definitely going to happen in season 2. He just got scared because of his dad's talk.

I think this episode was alright. but dan's reasoning and timing for breaking up with serena was weak to say the least. And lily and rufus together? ew. that would be irritating.

all i care about is that chuck and blair remain together and chuck doesnt botch this up.inspite of all his drama i think he really does love blair and can rufus and lily finally get together please according to eric he is scary!!!

Nah, Vanessa and Dan would be so dull! I'm not saying he should get back with S but I still think it would kill him as a character.

I thought the finale just made no sense! It was like all the characters personalities got scrambled for no reason.

Having said that they savalged Blair and Chuck at the last. Much as I love the idea of those two as a couple I think they're way more fun being a bitchy duo. Atm they're my only real hope for series 2!

personally i love the idea of blaire and chuck. i wanted to see lily leave bart at the alter and run back to rufus cuz now that dan and serena aren't together nothings stopping them. as for s and nate, that's cute. dan and vannessa should be together and just completly forget all the drama that is the upper east side.

I personally loved everything about it... especially the fact that dan/Serena are OVER... it was about time those 2 broke it off...

can't wait for season 2...

Chuck/Blair, Nate/Serena, Rufus/Lily... it can't get any better♥

I want chuck to forget about blair.

Nate & Serena, ftw! Waited all season for something between these two.

I want Dan/Serena and Chuck/blair together plsssss, no to NS

This season finale bored me to tears...

This final episode was like totally the bomb! I never like liked it when Serena and Dan were together, it like wasnt right, ya know? I mean this show is like the BEST eva and I think that S and Nate should like, hmm, be together, because then more drama with Blair would like start, and I like dont like Blair at all because Blair is like like not nice at ALL! Well. Until next time you know you love me! xoxo gg ;)

personally, for a season finale, I thought that this episode was very pathetic. I was really hoping that Chuck would just ignore his dads talk and just get together with Blair...and if he really did like Blair he would've made the commitment anyways! I also think that LIlly and Rufus are a perfect couple and that BArt should get back with his ex wife or whatever. I think that Dan and Vanessa are eprfect for eachother and I would like to see Jenny with Nate as much as I'd like to see Serena with him. The two girls come from different backrounds, but both of them would suit Nate well
