Spoilerpalooza! What’s Happening Next Season on Some of Your Fave CW Shows
We don’t know about you, but we’re already going into withdrawal now that all our favorite CW shows are on summer vacation. To stave off the shakes, we’ve been trolling the web for spoilers, plot details, and other hints on what’s to come – and we’ve found some juicy news about Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Supernatural and the network itself.
We know some of you like to be surprised, so we’re putting the spoilerific deets after the break. Don’t click if you don’t want to know!
But first, a bit of network gossip: Rumor has it that CW president Dawn Ostroff may be on her way out. We know some of you (Everwood fans, Gilmore Girls fans, Veronica Mars fans…) will be gleeful about this news. Who will be replacing her? According to Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke, the smart money is on Tony DiSanto, EVP of series, development and animation for MTV and head of programming for MTV2. DiSanto was the mind behind The Hills, Laguna Beach and other reality fodder. Would this be an improvement? You tell us.
Now: On to spoilers!
Gossip Girl
According to E! Online’s Kristin, things are all shook up on the Upper East Side. The news that had us squealing with joy? Blair and Chuck are a go! Kristin says that our beloved schemers will be the power couple on Gossip Girl, which is fabulous news. The news isn’t so good for Dan and Serena. Apparently, they’re not expected to get back into the happy-relationship groove for a long, long time – if ever.
Other tidbits:
- Georgina may not be back. Boo! We love watching that psycho bitch, and we’d love to see her try to get revenge against Blair.
- Nate has a new girlfriend, and she’s “all kinds of trouble.” Interesting.
- Dan has a summer job working for a Norman Mailer-type literary lion. We wonder if the author will be even more trouble than Eleanor Waldorf as Jenny’s mentor?
One Tree Hill
Is Dan dead? As if! Paul Johansson had this to say to Kristin: "Dan is almost immortal. How can Dan die? He’s the liaison between Lucifer and the world!" We wouldn’t have it any other way.
As for the answer to the season ending riddle – who did Lucas call? – the actors themselves say they don’t know. Both Hilarie Burton and Michaela McManus told Kristin that they’re just as clueless as we are. Hilarie did say something about Peyton hooking up with Mouth, but we’re pretty sure she’s kidding. (Please?)
Smallville
Green Arrow is back, as a series regular! Whoo-hoo! We love Justin Hartley as much as we love this character, so we’re thrilled with this news. We have no idea what it means for the medical pilot Justin was starring in, though.
Kristin says we shouldn’t expect to see Justin in his green leathers, though – “According to the show's rep, Justin's storyline will focus on Oliver's past and where he comes from as opposed to his Green alter ego.” Interesting.
Finally, it’s looking like we can expect Lana back for six or seven episodes next season, but negotiations are still in progress. We’ll see…
Supernatural
Eric Kripke spent some time talking with TV Guide, and he was gleefully unrepentant about killing off Dean: “Everyone expected Dean to be safe! That's reason enough to send him to hell.” But apparently there were reasons beyond just torturing fans – Kripke & Co. will use Dean’s time in hell as the prime mover behind the new season.
Here are some of the details we gleaned from the interview:
- Dean may spend about six months in human time in hell. “In hell time, who knows how many years or decades that might be.”
- Dean won’t be a demon – but he sure won’t be the same. And he won’t really remember what happened to him.
- Lest we think the season will be all angst, all the time, Kripke promises that Dean is “still the same smart ass he always was.”
- Sam may or may not have embraced the dark side while Dean has been gone. He tells Dean he’s stayed good, but we’ll start to wonder…
- We’ll find out more about why Sam was immune to Lilith’s powers. We’re hoping that means we’ll find out more about Mary, but who knows.
- Rufus, the hermit-like Hunter who told Dean he was doomed, will be back. Hooray! So will Ruby.
- The show will introduce a new supernatural species. Any guesses on who or what we’re likely to see?
That’s it for now. We’ll keep sharing the news with you as the summer goes on. Tell us what you think about these tidbits in the comments!

Of course Dan doesn't die, who would we hate then? Personally, I think he should die on the very last episode, it would be a great ending. But hopefully that won't be for awhile, so I'm not too concerned with losing my favorite villain ever. I love Paul Johanssen, he's awesome!!
I bet that the actors didn't get the scripts until a week before filming. If Hilarie and Michaela don't know, then I doubt that any know. Unless Sophia and Chad are hiding something....
I have another small spoiler about OTH: I believe that I saw on the bottom of the TV screen while OTh was on that one character is leaving Tree Hill, and that one is coming back. Personally, I hope that Lindsey leaves and Jake comes back. I loved Jake :(

Interesting...
I HOPE THAT DAWN LEAVES THE CW!!!!!! I'VE BEEN PRAYING FOR THIS FOR SUCH A LONG TIME!!!! That alone is the best news I've heard thus far regarding The CW!!!
Hopefully then we'll get more diversity in programming and better quality scripted and reality programming.
Oh, yeah, I'm happy with the other scoop too.

I don't know if this new guy is a good thing or not. His list of credits all seem to be reality junk. Sure, most of it is popular, but it's what we need less of. Hopefully, he won't be so female oriented as Dawn was and actually show some more love for other shows and not show blatant favoritism.
Plus, am I the only one not thrilled with Justin Hartley back as a series regular?. I always thought Oliver Queen was especially bland and uninteresting and had no chemistry with Lois. I never understood why he was so popular.

Regarding SUPERNATURAL: That so-called "six months in hell in human time" better be a time jump. Because if Jensen isn't back full-time as Dean by the second episode (and that's being generous) then Kripke & CW can start kissing the very-limited viewers they have goodbye. Simple as that.
SN is about Sam AND Dean equally... anything less and it is no longer the SN that drew us in and kept us watching all these years. Emotional distance and challenges between the brothers makes for great drama. Bring it on!! Physical distance and/or separation for any extended length of time makes for a show other than SN. God forbid we should have the Sam&Ruby show or the Dean&RubyInHell show for even an episode... just thinking about it makes me nauseous. And as great as Bobby is, I don't want the Sam&Bobby show either. I want the Sam&Dean show. Period.
As for Rufus... yeah! great character & great actor. Looking forward to seeing him back again.
Finally! It's about time that Mary's story is told... took long enough; almost as bad as waiting for mysteries to unfold on "Lost", which is a pattern that Kripke said he would avoid.
And Ruby... meh... interesting character who needs a new meatsuit now that the old one is severely damaged. (we can only hope, but with the budget restrictions, I greatly doubt it). And let's not confuse our acceptance of "Ruby" for what she offers the storyline with acceptance of who portrays her who offers nothing more than a very average and often annoying performance.
The last 3 episodes of the season were finally back to "classic SN" with the darker lighting, return of the classic rock, and elimination of the ridiculously ill-fitting and mandated T&A. Let's just hope that season 4 can continue to build back on the road of what made SN so special to begin with -- as long as the creative team doesn't lose sight of what that was.

Thanks for putting the spoilers behind the cut.
As for the network change, I won't miss her. However, MTV has gone severely downhill for me, the only thing I watch is The Hills (well, and The Paper when that was on) and everything else is trash. The last thing The CW needs is reality shows, that's for sure. But he does understand the audience I suppose, so maybe all will not be lost. ...I'll wait until I see how it goes.

I am STILL so upset about Dean going to Hell (even though the finale was great)! Poor Dean!!
I'm very excited to know what's going to happen to Dean once he returns and seeing his story play out. Kripke also mentioned that Dean was going to be like a POW returning from war and I'm very excited that Dean has this great storyline planned for next season. I love Dean as a smart-ass, so I'm glad to hear he won't lose that aspect of his personality. But going to hell has to change a person, so it will be interesting to see how Dean (and Sam) deals with his traumatic experience.
I guess I don't really care about Mary's story as much, but I do hope her secret involves both boys. I wonder if Dean will find out about Mary's secret in Hell and then remember it at some point when he's back? I do hope he remembers what happened to him eventually.
I LOVED Rufus and I'm glad he'll be back.
