CW Fashion Rules: Red Tights? Make Sure You’ve Got The Charisma to Pull Them Off
Gossip Girl is full of fashion statements, but one of the ones that stood out for us was the use of colored tights. Done wrong -- like when Jenny and her posse of mini-mes sported the trend – it looks awkward and fashion-victimy, like you’re trying too hard. Done right – like Blair’s utterly delectable red tight ensemble – it takes our breath away.
We’ve decided there are a couple of different components to making the look work. First off, you’ve got to have stunning legs. If your gams aren’t utterly perfect, the bright-tight look will be a tough sell.
But even girls with great legs can look awkward in bright tights. Here’s the hard part – you’ve got to be oozing charisma and self-assurance. You have to own those tights. You have to be able to stride down the street confident that all eyes are on you, and what’s more, all eyes SHOULD be on you, because you’re the queen of all reality. You’ve got to be completely sure that you’re the center of the world, and that is as it should be. Basically, you’ve got to be Blair Waldorf at her most, well, BLAIR.
If you’re not Blair – if, for example, you’re Jenny Humphrey – the look won’t work. You’ll be spotted as a poseur and a pretender to the throne. You’ll come off as a clown. So do it right, or don’t do it at all.

Blair's style is amazing. Jenny doesn't really have one, since she is obviously copying Blair.
Love the red tights though :)

I think Jenny and Blair both pulled the look off well. The reason Jenny can be a social climber is that she does look good in the latest trends, and people know she looks good. She has style; no one else on the show could make a party dress out of old clothes they sewed themselves. She has the eye to make her real competition for Blair.

Vi, I'm sorry, but I think both pull it off good.
I just felt that this article/column post was very biased and just Blair-friendly. No offense.

Hmm. I don't know, JR. I do like Jenny's style, but I think Blair beats her every time! Jenny is really just copying Blair, anyway.

Ummm, Jenny always looks good
in whatever she wears.
To be honest, she has a very good sense of style.
you have to think everything she's worn on the show
has been edited by her, and its
no the original bought material or brand
because her character obviously
cant afford it.
To me, both Blair and Jenny dress very good.
