90210 Recap: Hollywood Forever
Ok, 90210 took it up a few notches last night and there is much to discuss. First off, we love how in this still, Naomi is getting arrested but the girl to the left applies her lip gloss as if nothing out of the ordinary was taking place:

Let's get the Annie and Ethan storyline out of the way since right now they aren't incredibly interesting (or is that just us?). Fate throws the two of them together for a parenting assignment where the two need to take care of a robot baby and make sure all of its needs are met. This forces them to spend more time together and by the end of the episode they almost share a kiss only to be disrupted by the horror movie playing in front of them. We say: just get it over with. Their eventual hookup is predictable and neither of them seem too interested in sparing Naomi's feelings so hop to it!
We knew Silver would have Dixon over while Kelly was gone but, like Dixon, we weren't expecting her to bombard him with a horror flick fest. We're happy that they are taking things slowly and not jumping to sexy time right away. It's kind of like the Donna/David relationship from the original series. What impressed us the most was the way Dixon listened to Silver and actively sought out ways to learn more about the things she loves.
On to the juice...The new "girl" at school seems to be taking an interest in Mr. Matthews. She appears to be overtly sexual with him - which makes the discovery of her being an undercover cop a bit more screwed up. We can only imagine that her constant pursuits of Ryan will lead to bad places but since she really is of age - it's her own fault. Can he get in trouble for being involved with someone he thinks is a student who is actually of age? If she's really there to bust kids for drugs why is she paying so much attention to Ryan? We can't wait to see where this all goes.
We've been watching Adrianna's steady downward spiral since the pilot but it wasn't until last night that we started to feel the intense pressures weighing her down from her mother. Sure, we knew things were bad - but we didn't know just how much her mother was relying on Adrianna to take care of the family. She finally lands a role but jeopardizes it by abusing drugs. Naomi confronts her about the rumors going around but she denies taking drugs. Naomi finds Adrianna's lipstick case filled with cocaine at the exact moment the drug-sniffing dogs come to the school. Thinking that she would be able to get out of the trouble easily, Naomi grabs the coke from Adrianna and takes the blame for it. When she gets arrested and her father and his lawyer sit her down, the situation is more dire than she had thought. She confronts Adrianna and tells her that she needs to confess otherwise Naomi's reputation and ability to get into colleges (or stay at West Beverly) are severely damaged.
Adrianna tries to do the right thing and tell her mother about the drug use but falls short. Her mom burdens her with the information that without Adrianna getting this job, they were going to lose the house. We're not sure how a part in a B-movie would save the house, but maybe this one in particular is high-budget. Either way, the pressure was too high for Adrianna and she couldn't tell her mom about the drugs and the possibility of losing the part in the movie.
Naomi waits for Adrianna to meet at her father's lawyer's office and turn herself in. When she doesn't show, Naomi calls and leaves a message telling her that their friendship is over and Adrianna is "dead to (her)". Little did she know, Adrianna overdosed and now Naomi will probably feel as though her friend's death was her fault.
What did you think of this week's episode? Next week will probably be "a very special episode," but we're hoping to get more dirt on the undercover officer and her intentions for Mr. Matthews.
Comments
did anyone like the music atleast? I caught myself paying more attention to that more than the episode itself (I watched it a couple times in bits to make one big episode) Ingrid Michaelson's song Be Ok was a nice surprise though, since most of the tracks used are from older records. Hers comes out October 14th it's also titled Be Ok (I had to look around for it because I thought it was a b-side from Boys and Girls) anyways, yeah, so did Adrianna OD or what? None of the EMT's noticed that her phone was ring/vibrating in her hand?

Trust me when I say you guys aren't the only ones totally not interested in the bobblehead and the robot (you can figure out who I'm talking about:P) -- their so bleh and I want the writers to just hurry up and get on with it and not try to make them out to be more than what they are.
