One Tree Hill Podcast: "Choosing My Own Way of Life"

Listen Now

One Tree Hill goes back to focusing on relationships and (relatively) realistic human interactions, but Mia and I were still undecided on this episode. While we loved Millie (of course!), we can't say the same for Sam, or even Lucas. And don't get us started on Mouth...

he's baaaaa-aaaaack!

Mia and I discuss the plots that work (Brooke and Millie, Brooke and Peyton, Jamie's cuteness, Dan exposing the truth about vegetables) and the ones that don't do it for us (Is it an insult to ask Nate to play Slamball? Is Brooke financially secure enough to take in a surly teen? Is Omaha really that starved for entertainment?) Plus, find out what makes Mia invoke Tim Gunn, hear my surprising admission, and find out what storyline we almost forgot about entirely.

I love your podcasts!!
Does anyone else think that Mark Schwann forgot the story line about Peyton's half brother Derek?
The entire time I was watching the episodes with Mic I was sooo mad b/c it didn't fit from the previous seasons.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Millie and Brooke yes they were great together this episode. Well I like the Brooke and Sam story I think it can go to a good direction. Slamball I mean it's in the name first you slam your opponent into the wall and then you go and slam dunk as far as I can tell anything goes. Jamie on the trampoline was cute and when he said he was on team Brooke was awesome. I haven't heard that since seasons 1 and 2 btw when are you guys gonna podcast season 2? Sarah I loved how you compared Mouth the Carrie Bradshaw, so funny. For me I kinda thought Mouth was doing what Brooke kinda did. sorta giving up success to go back home. I love how you guys are getting a kick out of Lucas being humiliated. I hope that's an omen because their are so not mean't for each other me saying this because I am a Brucas fan. Skills' flowers for Deb looked like a clown trick like something to do with a magic trick. Dan and Jamie were great together i mean come on who eats brussel sprouts. Sarah I know that Mouth will grow on you someday well actually that day may never come. lol I was so glad that Peyton called Larry he was awesome in the previous seasons. Poor Rufus well I'm off to the gossip girl podcast. great podcast

I don't agree with you at all, I think you are so mean to Lucas, brooke and sam.

ugh i HATE season six and agree with you on all of the stuff in this episode! Mouth was just ridiculous!! How in the world would he get instant stardom in omaha?? and that sports player story he did was just dumb "this guy wanted to be with his family and friends so he turned down 62 million dollars but i agree because family and friends are all that matters" who would say that?? that was cheesy!! And brooke is absolutley not ready to take on a 15 year old!! And of course i love millie!! probably the only thing i liked this episode!! And why is owen randomley now at slamball?? did we really need to have him back its not like he is that important of a character!! And peyton and mick was eh okay.....i wonder if he is going to be back or is that all we get?? And of course i hate lucas so i have no problem with you bashing him! yeah and also....when are ya guys gonna start season 2 podcasting??

WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GONNA PODCAST SEASON 2?!!!

The Comet was supposed to be a number 1 best seller, to let ya know. So it was expected his second one would do well... but oops... FLOP!

Are you girls kidding?
You're usually dead on, but you're way off here. SlamBall is insanely cool and must be hard as hell to play. About time Nathan manned-up and showed people he's tough enough to play at any level. He's got the talent - the NBA isn't questioning that. They're questioning if he's too fragile to play at the highest level. SlamBall will prove how tough he is. You guys suck that you think something that physical and acrobatic is something 'anybody can do'.

Whatever you guys say, I agree with. You're on point with alot.

You have no idea how hard you had me laughing guys! I had a not-so-great day, and you made it so much better with your comments, wit, sarcasm, etc.

I totally agreed with pretty much every things you said!

And the metaphor with the book and LP, several of my friends told me that on separate occasions too! I feel like I'm the only one who didn't catch that or read it like that, lol. But I hope you're right ;) lol

Love the brussel sprout talk! LOL. And the "mouthful" ending rocked!

NHJ were adorable! <3

ughh Mouth is back, this isn't good.

I liked the stroyline with Sam. I geuss it could be because I am a foster Parent.
However I don't like the way they portray the foster care system. I live in Canada so it may be a bit different, but most (not all, but most) FP's I know DO care about their foster kids and aren't in it just for the "cheque". We have a 17 year old foster son and if he were sleeping in a car at his high school I would have had the police out searching for him because he wasn't home!

AND, he was 14 and I was 23 when we first had Mitch placed with us... so the argument that Brooke can't do it at 22 or 23 doesn't stand for me.

Thanks for saying a mouthful.

i totally and completely 100% agree with you guys on the whole slam ball thing!! i mean are they all seriously willing to risk nathan getting possibly paralized again just so he can be on a "real" team. which, by the way, is sooooooo not a real team. the only thing it has in commmon with basketball is the ball and hoop, if you take that away it's just football/hockey. no nba team is going to take him even somewhat seriously if he plays that!!! you guys are right, anyone can play that!! ugh it just makes me so mad cuz you can just see it coming he's gonna get hurt. and naley is my absolute favorite storey line and i love them to death, have since ep 2 but i really just wanted to shake them in this episode! other than that the only storey line i was even interested in was brooke's. i know i'm gonna hate this whole thing with her taking in sam. she's 22 yrs old, there's no way she should even try to be raising a 15 yr old. there's a reason they have to be an approved foster parent, and it's really gonna suck i think cuz now brooke's whole storey line is gonna be about sam and her taking care of her. which sucks cuz i'm tired of all these "projects" on the show lately. it needs to get back to being just mainly about the main charactors not all these outside people that are just now coming in or just came in last season. i don't care about them and i don't want to see them with the exception of jamie and millie. everyone else i could care less about and i wish it wud just start being about the core group again!!!! i miss the old oth :,(

First of all: You cracked me up girls...esp. that's why I'm behind a podcast. :P

I haven't posted here since 5th season but now I'm back...

I liked yesterday's episode's b/c it brought up things from the past, like BP, Peyton's old art, her call to Larry.

I don't like it that there was no aftermath...I mean Brooke gets a couple episodes for her trauma after the attack and Haley just a: Are you realy ready for school? No one even cares how she feels now...

The Sam thing is boredom...so repetitive...and although I like that Brooke was hesitant at the beginning the SL is so unrealistic...what about paper and legal work...?

Deb/Skills...he grabbed her at her ass while Jamie was watching...and the honey scene at the RC was disturbing...

Mouth...he didn't even annoy me as much as I thought he would but his SL...Mouth the God among the Sport Anouncers...quitting a great job for his hometown, friends & GF...well it's a nice gesture and all but dude, you have a great job in Omaha and before you quit everything, first find a job in TH...

Lucas and his book...it was amusing. :D Science fiction. lol But well...Luke should think more about the whole business and not just write a book and wait what the editor and the rest will do for him...

But the 1st book was popular, I think. I mean they even recorded it as audio, if I'm not mistaken.

Slamball...it was cool to watch. But Haley should definitely first watch a game. :P

LP - please TALK about what happened in the past. And how long will they throw this book as a symbole at us!? I mean...I got it and there is no need to make it matter more then it really does...the book didn't make him realize his feelings...in the last scene with Lindsey in season 5, he still was all teary-eyed and was longing for her...and the same day he realizes: Oh heck, the book is about Peyton...

Oh and this whole realization that the career is not as important as Peyton...he had to fail at a book signing in Omaha to realize that?

Dan should be more evil, ironic and sarcastic...nice and regretful doesn't fit him. But he was cute in the scene with Jamie. :)

The SL with Peyton's dad...boring and glad it's over...I guess the intention of this SL was to make her realize that Larry is her real dad and that she is happy that she had her mom and dad and was given up by her birth parents.

I've written a mouthful. :D:D:D

Good podcast as always, I grab surprised because it was fast, always expect the podast after Wednesday, but it does not matter at all because it was great, and Mia prefer to see you on TV a thousand times that Mouth, with his poor line,The episode had its funny lines, my favorite was Lucas: I've signed exactly two books today. One of those was a Gossip Girl book.
Mouth: Hey, I heard those were pretty good.
Lucas: That's not helping.

Heh, you guys never like Lucas so no surprise there=p

But It was an okay episode, a bit slow in a few places!

I'm sure you guys are gorgeous lol Lee's actually about the same age as Chad and Joy so yeah he looks actually younger then his real age lol

I really have nothing say but Jackie was missed lol This podcast don't work unless its the power of 3 girls LOL I'm actually excited for next week though Haley fighting LP teasing each other just some good ole fun ehehe ohh and Owen and Brooke

LOVED THE EP - not alot happened by tributes the longevity of the show!.
i loved jamie say "Sorry Owen -- I'm on Team Brooke." - this is actually a tribute to brooke because it comes up alot in other seasons. i loved mouth - so awsome that he had success and loved seeing him - he was soo funni - and talented thus the success didnt seem so far off - esp considering Brooke or Lucas's successes...
Sam is soo blah. LOVE DAN - and debs reaction to the flowers (Hee!) needed more haley - nothing happened with her. loved nates scenes with dan and slam ball. didn't he look like such a proud father whatching jamie bouncin around?!! anyhoo it was a good ep for all characters - excited to see what happens next!! p.s u will LOVE mouth after u watch another earlier season!

I'll just say Lucas is not going to be hurting too much about the Book. He gets an offer that I don't he's going to refuse. Trust it's better than a book. But Like always with OTH, there's twist, some drama.. LOL! I'll just that.

Also the Book was a metphor so his the fans of "Ravens" had no clue if it was a "Love Story" or not. Lucas himself just admit it now that it was. He was bent on saying it was scifi. So Either I know am stick up for LP which I usually don't. But I just had to correct you guys on that. His first Book was VERY successful so it had nothing to do with that. People love LP relationship in it, and that's all we heard throughout S5 and made apparent. The bad thing was people don't know that "THE COMET" is a follow up to "RAVENS" LP relationship aspect because LP did breakup, and his fans have been wait for the Book for quite some years now. I think 4 years. Since "RAVENS" got published and out. So Lucas making it a Metphor was the issue. He should have just straight written it, but in S5 he couldn't because he was in Denial and was with Lindsey so it had to be made that way.

The whole point about the Book in the first place was to bring LP back together which it did. So Mark was just connecting things really.

Lucas gets an offer in 608, which he'll probably like, until he finds something out. LOL!!

Anyways, there's my Lucas defending. Gotta stick up for my man. Even if I don't like LP. I just had to say it from a guys view.

I'll just say Lucas is not going to be hurting too much about the Book. He gets an offer that I don't he's going to refuse. Trust it's better than a book. But Like always with OTH, there's twist, some drama.. LOL! I'll just that.
