Privileged: All About Tough Love

Wanted for the theft of bail money
Shelby’s been a bad girl: Seems like mom has fallen back to her old ways and skipped out on her family once again on Privileged. At least this time she made off with a nice parting gift.

We never really did care for Megan’s mom, and last night she proved our point. To appear out of nowhere after abandoning your family and try to act the way she did was already bold and a little ignorant. Even bolder was having the guts to do it again, and one-up yourself by stealing in the process. Yep, that’s right. It looks like the Lily apple didn’t fall too far from the tree.

After last week’s call from Lily in jail, Megan rushes to be by her side only to find out her bail is $25,000. And let’s not forget that the only reason why she is in jail is because her scum of a husband left a whole backpack of drugs (not pot) in their hotel room while they were honeymooning. Let’s face it though: we all knew that this day would come, given Lily’s jaded past. Despite the fact Megan feels like they need to rescue Lily, their dad feels otherwise and convinces the family it is best that Lily learn her lesson and stay put.

Gut-wrenchingly heartbroken, Megan confesses the plan to Lily and spends the evening crying away in Will’s fantastically handsome arms. Oh to be Megan! But that's neither here nor there. The point is that rich-boy Will (doing what he thought Megan’s heart really wanted) has a secret meeting with good old Shelby. Dear Will: When, in the history of TV drama, has good ever come from secret meetings? Exactly. What were you thinking?

Mommy dearest convinces Will to hand over the bail money which, by the way, he already offered but Megan kindly said no because it was a family issue. Sometimes we don’t know what boys are thinking.

We had the rest of the episode all but figured out: Megan gets mad at Will, Lily gets bailed out and drama abounds. It even seemed all was coming true. Megan sees Lily driving down the street (obviously bailed out of jail), Megan confronts Will, he confesses to putting up the money and they fight. At this point we thought that we were a little psychic.

But wait: When Megan goes to tell Lily she was sorry for not bailing her out and mentions their mom doing it instead, Lily gets confused. She tells Megan that she never saw their mom and she wasn’t bailed out of jail. Fact of the matter is her husband was finally caught and Lily’s charges were dropped. Huh?

Our jaws dropped just as about as far as Megan’s. So where was Shelby and Will’s $25,000? Apparently gone. No one had heard from her and just about every piece of clothing was missing from her closet.

So how do you even follow up all this drama with some secondary storylines for the twins? Very delicately, which is good because our heads are still spinning from the whole Lily-jail, Shelby-theft situation. In other words, not much is going on with the girls. Sage and Rose learn a thing or two about boys, dreams and goals. When gift-giving goes awry, both girls are faced with their first confrontation in their new relationships.

Sage gives Luis a very fancy set of knives, which he likes but is upset about because he has been saving for two years to buy them himself. Might we add that of all the couples we’ve seen fight on this show, these two are by far the cutest. We attribute it to Ashley Newbrough’s pouty performance and the uncanny unveiling of the kittens-in-a-basket puzzle. The puzzle, she tells Luis, was finished for her by Laurel’s assistant when she was a kid. Point being, she understands why Luis’s feelings were hurt because her goal of finishing the huge puzzle for herself was also thwarted.

Rose and Zach fight when his poetic gift turns out to be plagiarized. But all is well in the end and they work it out when Zach shows her the real poem he wrote. Both girls prove that despite being from different economic backgrounds or social groups, if you are willing to make a relationship work, these differences mean nothing.

Speaking of economical differences, we wonder how Will will take it when he finds out he’s been swindled by mommy Smith? Will the money cause a fight between him and Megan? Will he even care? Or, will Megan be rocking the "I told you so?" -- and if she does, how will Will react?

Maybe Lily's mom did visit her in jail, and maybe Lily lied about the bail being 250000. Maybe it was half that and the mom got the money from Will and split it 50-50 with Lily, so Lily got out and so did her mom.LOL. Just a crack at it..lol

What's really starting to get at me though is the fact that Meagan and Will fight too often. Granted that this time it was a biggy, generally speaking she gets too easily upset with him and she is perpetually disappointed or trying to over analyze their relationship. As much as I love her, she needs a chill pill. WIll is a great guy and everything he's done so far has been because he meant well. Except for the very first fight about the Brazil trip. but EVERYTHING else !

When Will and Shelby was at the restaurant I had a feeling that Shelby was going to pull something like that. I was telling my friend that I wouldn't be surprise if she took off w/ the money and sure enough she did. I really hope that's not the case, but who knows. Also something doesn't sound right about Lily's story. It don't add up like Megan said.
